The bottled water. Recently we found that a certain lot of our bottled water had a high level of feces in it. Wait a minute, feces in our bottled water? Yes. Pretty scary, huh? Well, it is possible that I drank some tainted water as I have been sick for the past two days. Nothing like racing back and forth to the bathroom in between Phenergan-induced bouts of sleep. The doc gave me a shot and I slept for 20 of the next 24 hours. That stuff is good for making you sleep but I'm not sure it did anything for my belly.
I am feeling better today; thank God! I am sitting here in the living room realizing AFN daytime programming sucks.
On another note, we did have some action in the city a couple days ago. there were nine rockets fired within the city. None were close to us but they did wake Bev. Not me, I slept right through them. Bev did wake me to ask if I heard the noises but I didn't stay awake long enough to answer her. So she woke me again and I told her I didn't hear anything.
All is well here. Bev is at work today writing a speech for the Ambassador. I'm not sure how/why she got tagged to do it but I am sure it will be perfect by the time he gets it.
Ok, I am out of here for now. I need another nap....

Yuck. I'm going with yuck as the appropriate response.
ReplyDeleteOn a different note...I heard that bottled water causes cancer if you leave it in the car too long. Basically, because it can get so hot, plastic residue gets into the water and, I guess, melted plastic is a carcinogen.
ReplyDeleteSo basically, what I'm trying to say is, along with not drinking your bottled water, don't drink hot bottled water either.
ReplyDeleteI would just like to point out that I've had something against bottled water for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI feel bad drinking bottled water - but love Smart Water. And feel bad about it.
ReplyDeleteI also had issues with the bottled water here in Vietnam. Choliform, or chloriform, or some such thing, which I understand is also just a fancy word for "you have feces in your water". A little bleach is all it takes.....
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in Korea I asked for a bottle of water and noticed the bottle handed to me had a broken seal. I inspected several and realized they were reusing bottles and filling with tap water. I ended up living on soda and beer. Really sucked for five weeks but I did not get sick either.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you Bev, I wish it was Joe instead.
I saw the reports on the suicide-bombing. Are you guys okay? Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteBTW, who bottles your water? The Taliban???!!!
-Chris L.
I agree with Gunny....Beer and Soda are the way to go. Course for you, just soda. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteFilter the bottled water, then treat with iodine tablets, then boil until it all evaporates, collect the steam. Then have the beer Frank recommends. :-)
ReplyDeleteOr follow above until you get to evaporate.Dont let it evaporate, collect the steam and package in sterile glass canning jars.
Do you want me to send a cooking thermometer and sterile canning jars with tops?
Which ambassador did you write the speech for and did he use it?
Stay safe!
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.... end of comment :-) - CJ
ReplyDeleteyou don't ever EVER want to know what's in your food or drink. If your stomach can handle it, go for it and just get dewormed and such every 6 months. If it makes you sick, follow mom's instructions:) PSI sold water purification when we were there - I bet you can still find it from Pakistan (PuR or SafWat or some such thing) - I used that for soaking veggies....
